    How Firm a Foundation

    But really, God is just that good. 

    Folks, let me encourage you to trust God in your relationships.  He's got your best interests in mind - just trust Him.  Here's some scripture that has helped me put away my agenda and prevent me from laying claim to others' hearts.

    Song of Solomon 8:4 "Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires."

    Proverbs 19:2 "It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, or be hasty and miss the way."

    Proverbs 19:11 "A man's wisdom gives him patience..."

    Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious in anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." 

    Are you ANXIOUS?!  God is promising here to give us His peace, which also guards our hearts and minds.  But we must seek His wisdom earnestly.  And that is a prayer request you know God will be pleased with. 

    Be patient.  Let wisdom guide romance.  Things work out best in God's timing, not ours.  Be excited!  God has a plan for your life.

  • on the move

    Folks, God is doing great things.  It seems like He has everyone in my small group in a state of transition in their lives right now.  That means that we are all uncomfortable.  Furthermore, we are in need of HIM. 

    I once thought that it was great to wake up in the morning and not know what God had in store.  I thought it was great not to know what was around each bend. 

    I thought right.

    But it is more difficult than it sounds.  It is scary.  And it is exciting at the same time.  I have no idea what life will look like in one year -- what relationships will develop, where I'll be working, what my ministry callings will be, what anything will look like.

    God is good.  
    Philippians 4:4-9
    Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

    Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
